Icelandic Sheepdogs

See the current Red Cedar Icelandic Sheepdogs by clicking here, or co-owned/past dogs here.

Icelandic Sheepdogs are a medium sized herding spitz that bark! They are versatile, happy, biddable, social dogs. I have been blessed to spend time with many Icelandic Sheepdogs from a variety of breeders around the world and have fallen in love with the breed. They can make loving family pets, but excel with a job. I compete in a variety of dog sports with my Icelandics and I am happy to chat with anyone about the breed and what they are capable of.

My goal in breeding Icelandic Sheepdogs is to preserve their instincts and ability as working dogs while being structurally correct and typey enough to be competitive in the breed ring. Temperament is my number one priority - these dogs should be confident, happy and social and it is important to me that they maintain these traits. We are not currently expecting any litters until mid to late 2021. At this time our wait list is full, but feel free to reach out to get to know us, ask for breeder referrals or learn more about the breed. You can email us at redcedarkennel@gmail.com.

You can learn more about "Icies" from the Icelandic Sheepdog Association of America.
