Scout x Zora
Haustlita's Olafur Orrason x CH Tri-Star Red Cedar Living in Color BN RE SWN ATT
Zora delivered seven (four girls, three boys) beautiful puppies on June 28th, 2024. You can see photos of them growing week to week at the bottom of this page!
You can learn more about Scout below, and Zora on her page. We were lucky enough to spend time in Connecticut with Scout and his owner Tanya on their small farm for the breeding. He is such a lovely, happy dog, the type that makes everyone fall in love with him. Zora is a little more serious and loves to work, but is incredibly sweet and silly with her friends. I’m expecting very balanced temperaments - a good head on their shoulders but with good drive for sports and/or herding. Solid, functional structure with lovely heads/expression. The puppies will all be some shade of black sable, so they will all have black noses like Scout. The shade of sable could range from Zora’s lighter cream to Scout’s rich red. The match is recommended for both increasing genetic diversity and decreasing COI in the breed by DogsGlobal calculations (21.6 meankinship).

Haustlita's Olafur Orrason
Scout is a farm dog and pet, with an outstanding temperament, and a pedigree I know very well. His sire and dam are both finished champions, and sire is an agility and herding dog too. Scout embodies the purpose of an Icelandic Sheepdog as an all purpose farm dog. His owner says that her vet calls him “Dr. Dog,” as he is quick to spot injuries on any animal on the farm, including detecting a hoof abscess two days before a horse takes a lame step. And, as any good Icelandic Sheepdog does, he patrols the property for birds, keeping hawks away from the chickens. He welcomes visitors enthusiastically and is social with all humans. Despite living the farm life day to day, he has been able to attend outside events with ease. This includes participating in an AKC “Meet the Breeds” event in New York City, where thousands of people came through wanting to pet dogs and learn about the breed. Scout is nine and very healthy and sound, with no health problems.
